Scams and scammers in voice over
Scams are everywhere! Sometimes they come from unexpected places. EVEN in voice over. If you're trying to get into voice over, just be aware that scammers are out there.
I haven't seen it in awhile but there used to be a scam that wanted you the talent to pay for the studio time and they would send you a check that you would deposit and that would pay for the studio and the job...before you did the job.
Hopefully you see the problem. You, the talent, are getting "paid" for a job that you haven't done yet.
And if you tell the scammer that you have a home studio and don't need to pay for studio time. They still will be insistent that you take the check and deposit it. Also they would set up the "studio" and would send you the address.
I googled one of the addresses that I was given and it literally was someone's house in a neighborhood by my local mall.
So be careful out there. There are scams EVERYWHERE! Listen to your instincts and don't get taken by these people.
